2018 Sleepy Hollow Vineyard Pinot Noir

Sitting just above the wine’s surface, a layer of complex aromas evolves: fresh cranberry, pomegranate and raspberry that turns into crushed gravel, coast redwood forest floor, lemon zest and shiitake mushroom. In the mouth, the wine shows itself as indulgent with a pleasing depth and slight heft; similar cranberry, a touch of blue fruits and hints of lavender combine for a satiating richness. The wine loses with notes of brioche and strawberry tart, with very little tannin and a quenching, balanced acidity.

VINEYARD NOTES

Sleepy Hollow which is located in the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA was the surprise wine of the vintage. The vineyard blocks chosen are planted in Arroyo Seco gravelly sand loam
Blocks 22 and 32 were farmed for l’usine
Clones: 115 and 667
De-clumping and green passes in each block up to 3 green passes in some blocks
All hand harvested

4-5 Day Cold Soak
All picks and lots kept separate
10-14 Days on the skins
Punched down 3-4x a day depending on each lot
Gravity racked to barrel and sat on the lees; no stirring
Aged 9 months in French oak, 49% new
Predominantly Francois Feres, Damy and Cadus
Not fined; lightly filtered
